Borrowed from Classical Persian مسجد (masjid), from Arabic مَسْجِد (masjid). First attested as Old Punjabi ਮਸੀਤਿ (masīti). Compare Hindi मस्जिद (masjid), Marathi मशीद (maśīd) and Rajasthani मसीद.
