From Sanskrit અમૃત (amṛta), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *amŕ̥tas, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *amŕ̥tas, from Proto-Indo-European *n̥mr̥tós. Cognate with Assamese অমিয় (omio). Doublet of અમૃત (amŕt).
