Etymology edit

Cognate with Northern Thai ᨼᩢ᩠ᨯ, Lao ຟັດ (fat), ᦝᧆ (fad), Khün ᨼᩢ᩠ᨯ, Shan ၽတ်ႉ (phâ̰t) or ၾတ်ႉ (fâ̰t). Possibly related to Proto-Southwestern Tai *vaːtᴰ (whence Thai ฟาด (fâat)).
