Etymology edit
From Old Georgian ეშვი (ešvi), from Proto-Georgian-Zan *ešw- (“wild boar, pig”). Cognate with Mingrelian ოსქუ (osku, “pigsty”).
Possibly Georgian იშელი (išeli, “pigsty”) also belongs to this word family.
