Etymology edit

From Old Georgian ნავი (navi), probably from an Iranian source; compare Middle Persian [script needed] (nāw /⁠nʾw⁠/, ship), Persian ناو (nâv, boat). Alternatively, according to Ačaṙyan and Illič-Svityč (apud Martirosyan), from Old Armenian նաւ (naw).
