Directly borrowed from Middle Persian 𐭯𐭠𐭥𐭮𐭩 (p'rsy /⁠pārs⁠/, Persia), 𐭯𐭠𐭫𐭮𐭩 (p'lsy /⁠pārs⁠/, Persia) or via some other source. For the ს- (s-) compare სპილენძი (sṗilenʒi), another Iranian borrowing.
