-гӣ • (-gi) (Persian spelling ـگی)

1. alternative form of -ӣ (-i, noun forming suffix) used for words ending with the vowel а (a).

   ‎мардона (mardona, “manly, masculine”) + ‎-гӣ (-gi) → ‎мардонагӣ (mardonagi, “masculinity”)

   ‎бараҳна (barahna, “nude”) + ‎-гӣ (-gi) → ‎бараҳнагӣ (barahnagi, “nudity”)

2. (not productive) alternative form of -ӣ (-i, adjective forming suffix) used for words ending with the vowel а (a).

   ‎хона (xona, “home”) + ‎-гӣ (-gi) → ‎хонагӣ (xonagi, “domestic”)

Usage notes

• Only used to form nouns, with most formed-adjectives using -ӣ (-i) irregardless of the final vowel. Only a small number of exceptional adjectives use -гӣ (-gi).
