Turkic?

Hmm, I don't think it's Turkic. ru:wikt refers to Vasmer and uses Albanian "keth", "kedhi", Old English "hǽсеn" as cognates. See ru:коза#Этимология--Anatoli ^{(обсудить}/^вклад) 06:48, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

It can be related only to the Albanian word, Vasmer is a bit obsolete and speculative, and things have changed since. See ESSJa in the references as well as this paper by Dybo, page 479 in the document. Albanian word has rebuilt its paradigm or was analogous to edh. It's definitely not of IE stock (cannot be reconstructed for PIE, and neither derived from some root) but some kind of loanword, the only question is whether it was Turkic or not. --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 07:23, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

I've added the "Albanian connection" because it's discussed in EIEC (if it's good for them, it's good enough for us!) I'm not that familiar with Turkic languages, and I'm not sure that the etymology listed in Russian Wiktionary has the terms listed in native script, so someone should check these and copy possibly related terms in a few Turkic languages. --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 07:09, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
