Bucholz (plural Bucholzes)

  1. (chess) The sum of the scores of all opponents in a competition.
    • 1977, Chess Life & Review - Volume 32, Issues 1-6, page 211:
      It was now obvious that Mark had played the strongest opposition, moving well ahead of everyone else on Bucholz points (the total scores of his opponents) as well as on Sonnenbom-Berger points.
    • 1981, Hungarian Digest - Issues 2-6, page 93:
