From Proto-Norse *ᚨᛁᚹᚨᛚᛁᛒᚨᛉ (*aiwalībaʀ) or *ᚨᛁᚾᚨᛚᛁᛒᚨᛉ (*ainalībaʀ). From Proto Germanic Proto-Germanic *ainaz (“one”) or *aiwaz (“always, eternity”), and *lībą (“life”) with added masculine -aʀ (akin to Leifr m from leif f).[1][2]
