Unattested verb only found in compounds (see derived terms below), from Proto-Italic *nuō, from Proto-Indo-European *new- (“to nod”). Cognate with Ancient Greek νεύω (neúō, “to nod”), Sanskrit नवते (návate, “to move”).[1]
