From Proto-Iranian *Hr̥jifyáh. Cognate with Old Median *r̥zifyah, Avestan 𐬆𐬭𐬆𐬰𐬌𐬟𐬌𐬌𐬀 (ərəzifiia) and Sanskrit ऋजिप्य (ṛjipya).
