Proto-Slavic edit

Etymology edit

From a Germanic language, most likely Gothic 𐌿𐌻𐌱𐌰𐌽𐌳𐌿𐍃 (ulbandus). Anlaut *velь- instead of more precise **vъl- probably due to contamination with *velьjь.

From early *vъlьb(l)ǫdъ < *vъlbǫdъ < *ulbondъ < *ulbondu, from Gothic 𐌿𐌻𐌱𐌰𐌽𐌳𐌿𐍃 (ulbandus).

Noun edit

*velьb(l)ǫdъ m

  1. camel
