RFV

edit

@Kutchkutch: What is the status of the RFV? Since it has been here for a long time, it should probably be dealt with. Svartava (talk) 19:40, 15 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Svartava: This was discussed here
User_talk:نعم_البدل/Archive_1#Category:Requests_for_verification_in_Old_Punjabi_entries
Essentially, I found a Shahmukhi version of the Guru Granth Sahib at
https://archive.org/details/SriGuruGranthSahib-ShahmukhiWithGurmukhi/
However, according to User:نعم_البدل, since this is a transliteration and not an actual version of the Guru Granth Sahib, this document should not be used. And then, I stop[ed] making Shahmukhi Old Punjabi entries. If nothing has changed since then, then the existing Shahmukhi Old Punjabi entries based on that document alone would need to be deleted. @Kutchkutch: Since there are quite few Old Punjabi entries in Shahmukhi and most are sourced by {{R:inc-opa:Farid}} it might be fine to remove those based on this alone. I tend to agree with this is a transliteration and not an actual version because other such transliterations in Devanagari, etc. also exist. However the case is little different as Shahmukhi is a verified script for Old Punjabi unlike Devanagari but then the transliteration is a recent one, so it might not necessarily reflect how Shahmukhi Old Punjabi was written.
Regardless, the archive.org book you mentioned above can be created as a reference template to place in entries, as a place to see the Shahmukhi transliteration of a Guru Granth Sahib quote. Svartava (talk) 04:58, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Svartava the case is little different [from Devanagari] as Shahmukhi is a verified script for Old Punjabi unlike Devanagari
That’s the reason why I was hesitant to remove these entries immediately after the concern about them was raised. So, thanks for noticing that something needs to be done now that two and a half years have passed.
the transliteration is a recent one, so it might not necessarily reflect how Shahmukhi Old Punjabi was written.
That’s why the case for removing them is stronger than keeping them.
the archive.org book you mentioned above can be created as a reference template
I didn’t think of that, so thanks for the suggestion. Yes, that document could be used for further reading just like the header ===Further reading=== implies.
Regarding {{R:inc-opa:Farid}},
I never referred to that to make these entries. And, I won’t be able to easily salvage the existing entries by referring to that, especially since there’s no index. If it is later found out that the existing entries can be salvaged, then it would be easier to restore them rather than letting the RfV tags remain indefinitely.
Regarding deleting the applicable entries,
I don’t mind if you (or someone else) remove(s) these entries (or help me remove them), since this has now been discussed from several viewpoints. But perhaps the advantage if I delete them is that it won’t look like there’s a conflict of interest. Kutchkutch (talk) 06:51, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
