Arguing against SOP claims

This compound (วิตก (wí-dtòk) + กังวล (gang-won)) should not be considered a sum-of-parts (SOP) because the nominalized form, ความวิตกกังวล, is a common translation for the English word "anxiety." The translation has also been provided by the Royal Society of Thailand. The nominalized form specifically refers to anxiety as a mental disorder rather than a state of worry in general. --A.S.
