Talk:好用
Also "user friendly"? edit
Can this also translate as "user friendly"? 71.66.97.228 22:45, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- I suppose so... something along the lines of functional and usable, and therefore awesome —umbreon126 09:04, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
'好用' as a word? 'hǎoyòng' is probably non-standard/nonsensical pinyin? edit
'好用' as a word is not present in the following dictionaries:
- 汉典
- 现代汉语词典第7版 (A Dictionary of Current Chinese, Seventh edition) pages 521-522
- 现代汉语规范词典第3版 (A Standard Dictionary of Current Chinese, Third edition) pages 523-524
- 教育部國語辭典簡編本
- 教育部重編國語辭典修訂本
- 辞海第6版 (Cihai, Sixth edition) page 0856-0857
Therefore 'hǎoyòng' is probably a non-standard or a nonsensical pinyin; should probably be 'hǎo yòng'? --Geographyinitiative (talk) 02:36, 10 November 2018 (UTC) My reasoning relies on the idea that 1) this phrase is so common that it wouldn't have passed unnoticed by the editors of these dictionaries and 2) 好 is really referring to something 'good' and not some more abstracted form of 'good' and 用 is really referring to the ability to use something and not some abstract understanding of 'use'. I was just thinking that the 用 of 好用 may be a dummy placeholder verb, as in user-friendly. So not really sure if I was right to make that edit earlier today or not. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 04:57, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
