Origin, Hyphen

To me, the clenching identifier of Mandarin origin for this loan word into English is the "u", which I presume would not appear in a transliteration into English from Mongolian. I don't fully understand the hyphen use here, but I strongly presume that this word is created first by rejection of hyphens between syllables in Wade-Giles (see discussion of that trend here: Talk:Chungnanhai) and then second by acceptance of hyphens between two parts of a word loaned into Mandarin before being loaned into English. Such convoluted logic is common with terms related to ethnic minorities in China- see Talk:Qomolangma Feng for a similar unusual situation. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 14:51, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
