Talk:action

Is "action" accepted as a verb yet? I have certainly heard it used that way. The usual context is "I am going to action myself," meaning something like "assign this action item (task) to myself", but these same folks in the office have also "verbed" such words as "history", "office", "obsolete", and "architecture".--Dvortygirl 23:21, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The process of "verbing" (i.e., making verbs out of nouns) seems to be based on lazy speech, so "I will action this" seems easier than saying "I will take action on this". The impression generated on the listener is likely to be very negative, since it sounds like completely unintelligent speech to the tuned ear and is meaningless to the rest of us.--kester 29 Nov 2006

Two music senses are listed, that seem adjectivial, under the noun, that seem unlikely. --Connel MacKenzie 03:18, 17 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Both are easily verifiable with Google searches [1] and [2]. Why so skeptical? DAVilla 15:21, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

adjective edit

Is still missing. (Of course, several of the noun senses have adjective definitions.) --Connel MacKenzie 08:32, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

verb edit

The OED has action as a verb. That's good enough for me - added. SemperBlotto 21:18, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

German translation? edit

When trying to find out information about the German word Action, it simply redirects to this page. When using links on this page to find the German, it references the German area of this page, of which there isn't one. Why has this happened? What can be done?
