Am I missing an idiomatic sense? I can only see in + the + stands, why not in the kitchen or on the roof? Mglovesfun (talk) 17:14, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm interested in whether the term might be used if the ball for example exits a playing field not actually graced with stands. Clearly the definition would need some rewording.
