I see two citations of "old-farant":

• "More upright Beaus than Down Right Clowns Admire old farant Comon sense"
• "There was an old-farant spinet in it, and, though at first she didn't sing, after a bit I could hear her at it with her ditties."

Of this spelling, I've added several citations; here's one more: "For a crack with Jock at the bothy: old-farrant stories He had, I could tell you some queer stories." - -sche (discuss) 16:21, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
