- That is not a word. It would be helpful to have and image of noun sense 3 of "stocking", for the first two are fairly straightforward. --126.96.36.199 23:35, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- Material for stockings (as far as I can tell). 1865, The Youth's magazine, or Evangelical miscellany (page 62): "When I was a young man, matter of two or three and twenty, I'd saved two or three pounds, for stockinging was uncommonly good when we were at war with Napoleon, so I thought I'd go to see my friends at Market Harborough."
