Usage edit

This template may be used in the "References" section of an entry and on talk pages to provide a citation to the online-only Oxford Reference edition of the A Dictionary of Abbreviations (the Oxford Dictionary of Abbreviations 2011).

Parameters edit

The template takes the following parameters:

  • |1= or |entry= – the entry in the Dictionary cited. If not specified, the name of the Wiktionary entry is used.
  • |part of speech= or |pos= – the part of speech of the entry. By default, the template italicizes the value assigned to the parameter and adds a full stop (period) to the end. To turn off the default formatting for the purpose of specifying a different formatting using wikitext markup and templates, for example: |part of speech=''sb.''{{sup|1}}, specify |noformat=1 or |noformat=yes: see the example below.
  • |2= or |url= – URL of the individual entry, if needed.
  • |3=, |text=, or |passage= – a passage quoted from the Dictionary.
  • |nodot= – by default, the template adds a full stop (period) at the end of the citation. To suppress this punctuation, use |nodot=1 or |nodot=yes.
