Template:R:Phrase Finder

Gary Martin (1997–) “R:Phrase Finder”, in The Phrase Finder.

Usage edit

This template may be used in "References" and "Further reading" sections, and on talk pages, to cite The Phrase Finder website.

Parameters edit

The template takes the following positional or named parameters:

  • |1= or |entry= – the title of the webpage to be cited. If this parameter is omitted, the template uses the name of the Wiktionary entry.
  • |2= or |url=mandatory in some cases: in most cases, the template should be able to automatically link to the correct Phrase Finder webpage. However, if this does not work, use this parameter to manually specify the URL of the webpage to be cited. You may either provide the full URL, or the part between the last forward slash (/) and the file extension (.html).
  • |3= or |accessdate= – The date on which the Phrase Finder webpage was accessed. Use either of these date formats: 1 January 2017 or January 1, 2017.
  • |4=, |text=, or |passage= – a passage quoted from the webpage.
  • |nodot= – by default, the template adds a full stop (period) at the end of the citation. To suppress this punctuation, use |nodot=1 or |nodot=yes.
