Etymology categories for Translingual

Etymology categories for Translingual

Do you know why {{etyl}} does not generate categories when used with lang=mul. I can't follow the Byzantine template logic that uses our language and script codes.

Whatever the reason, not having the categories, like not having use of some of the special pages, prevents certain kinds of maintenance or, rather, would require bot runs to replace the functionality. Can the categories be added for the thousands of Translingual entries that have etymologies or have {{rfe}} or {{etystub}}? DCDuring TALK 12:58, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

It doesn't generate categories for Translingual by design, apparently. There is a check inside the template that specifically excludes it. I don't know why, though.

I'm going to venture that there was once a theory that such things only happened within "languages" which were deemed to be things that had L2 sections. That theory, attitude, or belief is part of the reason taxonomic names have been neglected for so long.

If there is no other consequence outside of what happens in {{etyl}}, then there should be no problem in removing the check.

I agree.

Ok I've made the change.
