• How to edit a page is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.
• Entry layout explained (ELE) is a detailed policy documenting how Wiktionary pages should be formatted. All entries should conform to this standard, the easiest way to do this is to copy exactly an existing page for a similar word.
• Our Criteria for inclusion (CFI) define exactly which words Wiktionary is interested in including. There is also a list of things that Wiktionary is not for a higher level overview.

Diff. Please note three changes here:

1. Template:tem. {{head|vo|noun}} does the same apart from not linking to a plural
2. Declension template always go under Declension or Inflection header
3. No space in headers (very minor, will be done by bot if not done by human user)

Copying and pasting between entries

Please be careful to update things such as language codes when you copy and paste between entries. Your edits to komedie put it in the "Spanish terms derived from Latin" and "Spanish terms derived from Ancient Greek" categories, because the etyl template you copied and pasted had a second parameter of "es".

I use similar methods, myself, but have learned the hard way to always click "Show preview" and check the categories at the bottom before clicking "Save page" Chuck Entz (talk) 20:23, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Alphabetic order: Danish before Swedish

Välkommen! Det är gott att se, att du på kort tid har blivit så aktiv i utökningen av de danska uppslagsorden. Men lägg alltid språken i alfabetisk ordning, så att ==Danish== kommer före ==Swedish==. Se sektorer till exempel. --LA2 (talk) 20:22, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

LA2 is right in saying that the language order needs to be alphabetical, but on the English wiktionary, English always comes first (i.e., it overrides the alphabetical order). So if you have Danish, English and Swedish sections on the same page, you place English first, followed by Danish, then Swedish. I hope this is not too confusing. Thanks for your contributions! The definite article in names

We don't add the definite article to names, like you did with Det Døde Hav and several other entries. Could you please move them? —CodeCat 23:28, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

What do you mean by that? The only definite article I see, is "the" in "the Middle East". What do you want me to correct? Nielsheur (talk) 23:36, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

I meant to move Det Døde Hav to Døde Hav and the same with the other entries beginning with Den or Det. —CodeCat 23:38, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Oh, like that. I didn't come to think of it, as it seems natural to say "Det døde hav" but following my world map, you are right. I will alter the names as soon as possible. Yet I think it's weird, as you cannot include "døde hav" in a sentence without adding "det" in Danish - so that it had to say differently in a dictionary is weird. Rhymes in Danish

Rhymes in Dutch and English are both counted from the stressed syllable, I don't know how it is in Danish. You just added Rhymes:Danish:-ə though... Are there any Danish words that have a stressed ə in them? It seems a bit unlikely. The rhyme abe is probably wrong in any case because the first syllable is stressed, not the second. —CodeCat 00:09, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Thank you. I tried making up some words that rhyme with "abe" after reading your comment, and as all the words I made up ended with "abe", I guess you are right, why I have changed the rhyme endings to something more correct. Nielsheur (talk) 16:15, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
