These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

• Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy documenting how Wiktionary pages should be formatted. All entries should conform to this standard. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing page for a similar word, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
• Our Criteria for inclusion (CFI) define exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary, though it may be a bit technical and longwinded. The most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
• If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
• The FAQ aims to answer most of your remaining questions, and there are several help pages that you can browse for more information.
• A glossary of our technical jargon, and some hints for dealing with the more common communication issues.
• If you have anything to ask about or suggest, we have several discussion rooms. Feel free to ask any other editors in person if you have any problems or question, by posting a message on their talk page.

You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage. This shows which languages you know, so other editors know which languages you'll be working on, and what they can ask you for help with.

If you find yourself creating a page with no categories you need to stop and review your entry, since it is certainly missing something (vampirina). DTLHS (talk) 03:08, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Citations

Please see Use–mention distinction. Citations that mention a word and then immediately define it are mentions, which do not count towards attestation. DTLHS (talk) 03:31, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

"Sum of parts"

Hi. Thanks for improving or adding entries for so many recently-in-the-news words. However, please note that some of the entries you've created have been pretty straightforward "sum of parts" phrases, like individual racism (which seems to be covered by individial + racism, like "individual bias" or "individual preference") and fake family unit (fake + family unit, like "fake motorcycle licence"). We don't generally include those. (Also, for the difference "penetrate..." vs "envelope..." senses of "stealth", I think it's probably better to just combine them into "have sex with...", but that's probably more subjective / debatable.) - -sche (discuss) 19:46, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

Related terms

This is for words that are related in their etymology, like horror and horrible -- not just words on a similar theme. (For those, you might be able to use coordinate terms, hypernyms/hyponyms, see also, etc. It depends.) Equinox ◑ 20:39, 5 July 2018 (UTC)

I've sent this to RFV, so we can see whether the word is attested to the standards required around here. One of the important bits is that we need cites from durably archived sources, like Google Books, Usenet (accessible through Google Groups), or anything that's been published in physical form, like books or magazines. It looks like the cites that you put in the entry are all to online-only news sources and websites. —Μετάknowledge^{discuss/deeds} 21:31, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

misdemeanourous

Best to be careful with these. I only see one hit for that spelling in Google Books and it's not clear that it's a standard spelling rather than an error. Note that spellings like "rigourous" are wrong even in British English. Equinox ◑ 20:15, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

• @Equinox yeah I initially made a mistake in typing it out I think. On 2nd glance I couldn't even find it in 1 book and only in 2 comments left on websites. Do recurring typos just get redirected? ScratchMarshall (talk) 20:25, 11 July 2018 (UTC)
