I'm perfectly willing to change this. I have a serious question. A problem with RobotGMwikt is that it used the code in the pybot framework designed for the pedias, that tried to make transitive connections between the names of articles in different languages. Apparently the bot runner couldn't make even small changes (like suppressing links from pl to ru, as requested). Is this bot using the pybot code? Can you make modifications as needed?
More importantly: if this bot is still using the pybot code, it is horribly inefficient for the wikts, where it is not necessary to look at the existing iwikis except for the entry being updated; it is sufficient to have a list of all NS:0 article titles for each wikt; that data will fit comfortably in RAM, and not require server load except for changes. Looking at m:WM:IW-WIKT, I think it is safe to say that VolkovBot is using the exact same pywikipediabot code that Gerard was. I have no objection to linking the pl nor ru stub entries; the additional links may help them get filled in years sooner. There are obvious performance enhancements that could be done on the toolserver. But no one that I know of has been concerned enough about it, to write that code yet. --Connel MacKenzie15:47, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We're O.K. with linking to pl and ru; I believe what Robert's talking about is the fact that pl objects to linking to ru stubs, and at one point was contemplating blocking RobotGMwikt to stop it from adding such links. —RuakhTALK16:45, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
