Etymology edit

Uncertain. Compare Latin roseus. Probably from the verb arushunedz, itself from arushest (“turn red, blush”), from rosh. Other explanations derive it from a Vulgar Latin root *rosinus ("rose-colored"), *russionem or *rosionem. Compare Romanian rușine.
