SwedishEdit
EtymologyEdit
From Old Norse bœta, from Proto-Germanic *bōtijaną.
VerbEdit
böta (present bötar, preterite bötade, supine bötat, imperative böta)
Usage notesEdit
- More rarely conjugated bötte, bött, says SAOL (1923). This is the case in the very antiquated proverb hött är med ingo bött (“a threat is with naught atoned, is not a crime”).
ConjugationEdit
Conjugation of böta (weak)
