Borrowed from English budget, from Old French bougette, diminutive of bouge (“leather bag, wallet”), from Late Latin bulga (“leather bag”), ultimately of Gaulish origin. Compare Italian budget, French budget, Russian бюдже́т (bjudžét), German Budget, Polish budżet.
Pronunciation edit
- Both the d and ĝ in words such as this are pronounced but the simpler alternative buĝeto does also exist.[1]
