Etymology edit

Sino-Vietnamese word from 公爵, composed of (duke) and (nobility rank), literally "the rank of a duke; duchy". Mainly refers to the European rank. The Chinese rank did not include the suffix (tước), thus simply (công). See also công hầu bá tử nam.
