Middle French edit

Etymology edit

Borrowed from Latin aequālitās, aequālitātem. Doublet with esgalité, which is from the same Latin source, via Old French (an earlier borrowing; cf. the inherited/popular Old French form oelté). See also the modern French égalité, formed from the basis of égal.

Noun edit

equalité f (plural equalitez)

  1. equality (state, property of being equal)
