Etymology edit

A singularized plural of Gheg gjê (“stable, pen”), from Proto-Albanian *saina, identical with the Baltic word for 'wall', from Proto-Indo-European *sēi (“to bind”). Cognate to Lithuanian síena, Latvian siêna.[1]
