Adverb edit

heatingly (comparative more heatingly, superlative most heatingly)

  1. (archaic) So as to make or become hot.
    • 1856, Henry William Herbert, The Complete Manual for Young Sportsmen:
Dogs should be warmly but airily housed; heartily, but not heatingly, fed — old Indian meal, mixed with oatmeal, suppawn, is the best general food, with a small quantity of salt, which is a preventive against worms []
    • 1918, The Ophthalmic Yearbook, volume 14, page 167:
Some skins are intolerant of grease, and in very active hot eczemas the grease may act heatingly by interfering with escape of secretions and radiation of heat. Pastes which are ointments but contain far more powder, are sometimes superior.
