1. (sports) A form of motorsport in which drivers compete against the clock on an uphill course.
2. (general) The act of climbing a hill.

3. (mathematics) A simple form of optimization that starts with an arbitrary solution to a problem, then attempts to find a better solution by incrementally changing a single element of the solution.
