lujvo is derived from the gismu pluja (complex) and the gismu valsi (word).

Etymologically, lujvo is a portmanteau of two Lojban words ( luj is the rafsi (abbreviation/affix/combining form) of the gismu (root word) pluja (complex)) combined with the portmanteau-form vo of the gismu (root word) valsi (a word) [1].
