    • 1924, Peanut Promoter, volume 8, page 11:
      Dr. J. T. Allen undertook to live on peanuts alone for several months in his home at Aurora, Ill., to prove that the monodiet is man’s particular need. Although Dr. Allen declared he believed the monodiet—that is only one food at a meal—is the proper way to eat, there is no authentic record that he practiced what he preached aside from the experiments of a few months.
