  1. A strain of a virus that affects neural tissue.
    • 1950, Rockefeller Foundation. International Health Division, Collected Papers by Members of the Staff - Volume 27, page 426:
      The wholly negative results obtained during attempts to restore the hepatotropic attribute to patency in the neurovariant of the 90th passage suggest that the agent might be classified as neurostable at that level.

      Thus, while studying the effect of a neurovariant of the influenza virus on mouse tumors (Gardner's lymphosarcoma, sarcoma-37, sarcoma-l80, and neuroblastoma MT-65) and also on the Brown-Pearce tumor, Wagner detected a marked suppression of the growth of mouse neuroblastoma MT-65.
