  1. A Yoruba drum belonging to the gbẹ̀du class of drums, it is used to make coded messages or send long-distance messages. It was mainly played in the royal court of the Aláàfin.

    the ògìdìgbó drum is beaten in drum beats like proverbs, it is the wise who dance to its rhythm correctly, and only the wise can understand or decode it

  • It is often confused with the àgídìgbo, a type of Yoruba lamellophone. While the àgídìgbo is sometimes regarded as a drum, they are not related.
