slipsole (plural slipsoles)

  1. A sock-like lining for the inside of a shoe.
    • 1943, War Department Technical Manual, volume 10, number 265, page 36:
      The slipsole is examined to determine whether it must be replaced or whether a patch is sufficient. Shoes which are worn through the bottom filler and/or innersole cannot be economically repaired.
