Etymology edit

Borrowed from French sporadique, assimilated to the native suffix -isch. This is in turns borrowed from Ancient Greek σποραδικός (sporadikós), cognate with Ancient Greek σπόρος (spóros) and Ancient Greek σπέρμα (spérma).[1]
