Particularly: “Final nasals in Vietnamese (when the current orthography was devised) were highly stable. There're only a few etymologies with both codaless vs. nasal coda forms (such as là vs. làm, chả vs. chẳng). The chance this word is related to Sino-Vietnamese tụ or Chinese 聚 is pretty much 0%. This is more likely related to at xúm, chụm and others in that word family.”
