Etymology edit
From Arabic تَنُّور (tannūr), from Aramaic תנורא or Classical Syriac ܬܰܢܽܘܪܳܐ (tannūrā), from Middle Persian [script needed] (tnwl /tanūr/, “oven”) from which also Hebrew תַּנּוּר (tanúr, “oven”), from Akkadian 𒋾𒂟 (tinūru).
