Perhaps from zp (“occasion, matter”) + n(j) (“of”) + jwtt (“the nonexistent”), but other interpretations using the verb zpj (“to be left”) or noun zp (“remainder, rest”) have also been proposed. For n jwtt compare also n ntt (“because”).
