Etymology edit

Cognate with Old Church Slavonic въньзити pf (vŭnĭziti), въньзнѫти impf (vŭnĭznǫti). By surface analysis, во- (vo-) +‎ -нз- (-nz-) +‎ -ить (-itʹ), where the root -нз- is also found in пронзи́ть (pronzítʹ) and is cognate with Polish nizać and further with нож (nož, knife).
