Etymology edit

Inherited from Sauraseni Apabhramsa मज्झु (majjhu) (with metathesis, for which compare the development of कुछ (kuch) from Old Hindi कछु (kachu)), from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀫𑀚𑁆𑀛𑀁 (majjhaṃ), from Sanskrit मह्यम् (mahyam), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *mábʰyam, from Proto-Indo-European *eǵHóm.[1] Cognate with Marathi माझे (māj̈he).
