Korean edit

Etymology edit

First attested in the Seokbo sangjeol (釋譜詳節 / 석보상절), 1447, as Middle Korean 우믈〮 (Yale: wùmúl). The second element is probably 믈〮 (Yale: múl, “water”), whence modern (mul), but the identity of the first element is unclear. Compare Japanese (i < wi, well).
