Vaassen
Dutch edit
Etymology edit
First attested as fasna around 800-850. Etymology unknown. Proposed derivations from Old Dutch *fahs (“hair, coarse grass”) or heem (“home, settlement”) do not match well with the oldest attestations of the toponym. Compare Vasse and Veessen.
