The εγ- or έγ- variations of εν- occur before:

  • κ - εγκρίνω (include) /eŋˈɡrino/ - έγκριση (approval) /ˈeŋɡrisi/
    pronounced IPA(key): /ŋɡ/ (some speakers suppress the nasal)
    or /ŋɟ/ before [e] and [i] - έγκυρος (valid) /ˈeŋɟiros/
  • γ - εγγραφή (registration) /eŋɣraˈfi/ - έγγραφο (document) /ˈeŋɣrafo/
    the double < γγ > pronounced /ŋɣ/, or, in some words /ŋɡ/ εγγονή (granddaughter) /eŋɡoˈni/
    some speakers, in fast speech pronounce /ŋɣ/ as /ŋɡ/ or /ɡ/
