ειλημμένος

Greek edit

Etymology edit

Formal perfect participle of λαμβάνομαι (lamvánomai), passive voice of λαμβάνω (lamváno). In the fashion of the Hellenistic Koine Greek εἰλημμένος (eilēmménos, who has been admitted), participle of the ancient λαμβάνω (lambánō). The spelling with ει of its passive perfect tense εἴλημμαι (eílēmmai, I have received) comes from *σέσληβ‑μαι. Τhe double μμ, from ληβ- + -μ- > λημμ-.[1] Also, semantic loan from French pris.[2]
